The client had recently relocated from the London area to a more family-oriented home, seeking a lifestyle better suited to raising a young family. Located in a nearby area, the new property offered greater space and potential for outdoor living – both key considerations in their move.

A central focus of the brief was to create inviting and functional outdoor entertaining areas, complemented by thoughtfully selected planting schemes and a productive garden that could evolve with the family over time. The client placed particular importance on having ample space for future children to play, which meant maintaining a generous lawn area was essential.

Given that the property was newly built, the primary challenge we needed to address was privacy. With limited established boundaries or screening in place, developing a sense of seclusion and intimacy in the garden was a top priority. This allowed us to explore creative yet practical solutions that would soften the new-build setting while ensuring the space felt private, secure, and welcoming from the outset.

Our Approach

The garden’s unusual shape presented a unique opportunity to create distinct zones, allowing us to separate the more functional elements from the main entertaining areas. This thoughtful layout brought structure and flow to the space while fully meeting the client’s brief.

Discreetly tucked to the side, we positioned a productive vegetable garden with a greenhouse, alongside a quiet seating area beneath a sleek aluminium pergola, ideal for peaceful moments away from the main activity.

The standout feature, however, is the spacious main patio, designed as a true showpiece. With a beautifully finished outdoor kitchen at its heart, it offers the perfect setting for entertaining and al fresco dining, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor living.

The installation process ran smoothly, with careful attention to detail throughout. A considered mix of materials were used, with porcelain paving bringing a sleek, contemporary finish. And the traditional clay pavers introducing warmth and character, both striking the perfect balance to reflect the client’s taste.

The overall design ensures a seamless flow throughout the garden, with each element thoughtfully connected. From the pathways to the patio and planted areas, every aspect transitions effortlessly, creating a cohesive and inviting outdoor space that feels both practical and beautifully resolved.
